Becoming Thurgood is a feature-length documentary on the life and legacy of the nation’s first African-American Supreme Court justice that premieres on PBS on September 9, 2025.

The film explores Justice Marshall's journey from his birth in Baltimore, Maryland, to his studies at Lincoln and Howard universities—two leading Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—and his history-making career as a jurist, to his groundbreaking career as a lawyer championing civil rights and dismantling school segregation, culminating in his appointment to the Supreme Court in 1967.
